Goodbye beautiful Hawaii

I was laughing so hard at Judy and Ron trying to close this suit case!

I read two incredible books while on our trip.  If you want an excellent book to read – get either one of these.  The Help is about whites and blacks in Mississippi in the forties and fifties – EXCELLENT!  And Sarah’s Key is about France during WWII – EXCELLENT.  Emmi and Maddie would be old enough and mature enough to read Sarah’s Key.  It isn’t a ‘feel good’ book but is fiction based on fact about things that happened in France during Hitler’s take over.

Pearls

I love pearls and have wanted a single strand of pink and black pearls for a very long time.  I found just what I wanted in Hawaii.  Neal bought me the pink ones (I LOVE them) and Judy surprised me with the black ones (I LOVE them!).  Yes, the gifts brought me to tears!  Thank you both.

Of course we had to find the Boy Scouts of America center and there Neal found some patches and a shirt!

Our last days of shopping and experiencing Lahaina. I love this place.

Hiking to and checking out a blow hole that certainly wasn’t very active the day we were there – but the beauty of the ocean was spectacular.

The light house at the top of the hill.  The hike took about 30 minutes over nothing but lava.

Shopping and eating!

This is one of the things I love most about Hawaii – the birds are part of the restaurants clientele.  They are very friendly and I love how they fly in and out helping themselves to whatever is dropped on the floor.

On our ay for a day of snorkeling!  An added note:  Neal put the car keys and his drivers license in his pocket but didn’t zip up the pocket so when he got in the water the first wave that hit him washed the keys and his driver’s license out of his pocket!  He realized it almost immediately but figured the keys and the license were gone for ever beneath the sands of the ocean!  As luck or blessings would have it, someone found the keys and his driver’s license!  But, in the mean time the car rental place had to send out a new set of keys in a cab at the tune of the cab fair plus the purchase of a new set of keys for a mere $90.00!!! and a very frustrating afternoon!
