Our annual park gathering

Lyndsy planned our annual park gathering for 2013.  All of the family who could, gathered at Liberty Park Saturday at 1:00 p.m.  Each family brought their own lunch and then if they wanted they could bring something for all to share.  The lunches varied from Coasta Vida to P & J.  It was fun to sit around and enjoy the warmth of the sun on our backs.  The kids ran and played with each other while the adults and the teens visited.  At 3:00 we all headed back to our homes.  Neal treated Jeff G. and Greg to 18 holes of golf at Bonneville.  Lynda Ann and the kids along with Greyson, Brock, Boston and Taylor came home with me.  I don’t think we saw the little ones until Greg came to pick them up.  They went over to the swings and played until Mindy and Greg came to gather them in.

What a fun day for all who were able to come.  Thanks, Lyndsy for another well planned annual fall family day at the park.

A P. S.:  Jeff H. was still in the hospital but the good news is that Mindy was picking him up that evening to finally be able to go home.  Annie had her second surgery on her legs the day before and was hobbling around but feeling good.  Ryan wasn’t able to come.  Emmi had to work.   Maren had worked the night before and had to do another shift that night so she was home getting much needed sleep.  Greg was taking the picture and I don’t know where James was during the picture.  He was at the park but somehow didn’t end up in the family picture.  We always miss those who live far away and wish you could be with us.

New dishes and new cupboard doors!

It is always interesting how a couple of little changes can create a different atmosphere and look to a room.  Neal and I love our new glass cupboard doors and with that came a new set of dishes.  What do you think?

Nila’s Wedding

Yesterday afternoon we spent the evening at the Lion House for Nila’s wedding.  They held it outside in the garden and the weather cooperated perfectly.  It was raining right up until 10 to 4 and the rain stopped the clouds parted and the sun came out.  So their garden wedding was perfect.  It was a little chilly, as you can see by the coats of the two singers.   She had two of her friends from her old singing group sing a love song and then she and her sisters sang (after the dinner) “Where Love Is”.  A very nice evening for them.

Do things come in threes?

Sunday I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis and it was confirmed after a CT Scan on Monday.  Then Monday night, Jeff H. was taken to the ER because he was in so much pain and was diagnosed with a kidney stone.  Then Lynda Ann called to let me know that she was having the veins in her legs operated on Friday morning.  What a week.  Jeff H. actually has been in the hospital for the past two days with other complications because of the pain and his diabetes.  Let’s hope we are all on the mend!  By the way, the smile was before they started the procedure.  It was very painful and they keep you awake the whole time!

Today was an interesting day

Lynda Ann and Emmi went down to BYU to have a tour of the campus and talk to some advisors in the History Department and the Arts Department.  I stayed home from work today because I was scheduled for a CT Scan.  Mallory didn’t want to wander around the campus so opted to spend the morning with me and then go with me to the clinic.  Mallory and I got all the light bulbs filled with yellow candy for our Leadership Meeting coming up in October.  Obviously the theme is “Shine On”.  After we filled the bottles, she helped me write out recipes and then we played Hand and Foot until it was time to leave for the clinic.

Mallory sat with me at the clinic while I drank some raspberry tasting drink.  I had to drink one cup every 20 minutes for an hour and a half.  Then in for the CT Scan.  Thanks, Mallory for hanging out with me at the clinic from 1 to 3:30.  We left just about the same time that Lynda Ann and Emmi were coming back from BYU and their monthly stop at Costco.  We met at Sizzler and had a bite to eat.

From there we headed to the fair grounds to pick up our wares.  I got a little lost coming out of the fair grounds but realized my error and made a quick U-turn and got headed in the right direction.  Made it home just ahead of the downtown traffic.  Thanks again Emmi for setting me up for the Utah State Fair Entries.  I was fun and rewarding for both of us!

I also got a check for a $12.00!!  How about that.  Notice the check is made out to Jeannine H. Maxfield.  I’m not just sure where they came up with the “H” but who cares.  I just thought that was kind of funny.  My middle name starts with an “L” not and “H”.  Check out the signature on the check.  Hey Lynda Ann and Lyndsy how would you have liked to try and copy that signature for your phony excuses you used to write when you were in school.  Not an easy signature to forge!

Oh, and I want to add a great big CONGRATULATIONS to Tucker for getting a new job, and with a competitor to his last employer.  That has to make them cringe just a bit.  Way to go Tucker and good luck with your new job!

Lynda Ann creates another fun craft for her kids to do.

IMG_0312IMG_0313

She glued the leaves on the outside of the bottle with Modge Podge and then put tea candles inside the bottle and this is the effect.  What a fun and creative family project!  Annie, you are amazing!

Two granddaughters old enough to drive and date!

I got this picture from Mindy telling me that Maddie got invited to Homecoming!  How exciting.

The sign says, “Out of all the fish in the sea, will you go to homecoming with me?”

Blue Ribbons at the State Fair!

Emmi decided to enter some of her pottery in the state fair.  I decided that it might be kind of fun to see how my counted cross stitch would do.  Emmi (thank you Emmi) did all the work.  She did all the entry paper work and hauled them down to the fair for the judging and exhibit.  Here are the results.  I entered three pieces.  Two received blue ribbons and one didn’t get anything but it was displayed.  Actually the one that I thought might possibly get a ribbon is the one that didn’t.

We met the Gertsons at the fair and did all the usual things.  Went on rides, had dinner, saw the animals (mine and Lynda Ann’s favorite thing) and ended up the evening by Emmi, Andrew, Mallory, Abby, Hayley, Lynda Ann and I all going down the big yellow slide at the same time.  Emmi hit the bottom first followed by Lynda Ann (who somehow passed me up on the way down) followed by me and the rest of the kids.

Pictures of Emmi’s pottery entries that also got ribbons!  Way to go Emmi!

Some random shots of the evening and oh yes, Mallory got to hold a duck and get it started in a race.  The duck she started came in second!

Another fun birthday gift!

Neal went to Jaden’s football game on Saturday and came home with a birthday present for me from the Cutlers.  The birthday card really made me smile.  It is one of those talking cards, wishing me a happy birthday.  I had a good laugh and had to listen to it a couple of times.  Enclosed with the card was a $25.00 gift certificate to IZOD.  Thank you Cutlers!  I will find a good use for the money when Neal and I go shopping.  My love and a great big THANKS!  Just an added note.  Neal said the Jaden played a great game and that he caught a touch down pass!!  Way to go Jaden.
