Our fabulous Mexico trip

Jamie emailed me today and was worried that maybe something was wrong because I hadn’t blogged for a week.  I think she forgot that we were in Mexico all last week.  I’ve just now had a minute to get caught up.  It takes me a day or two after a trip to get things put away and organized and back into my regular routine.

We had a wonderful time in Mexico.  Leaving on a Sunday after our meetings.  We drove to Beaver, where we stopped for gas.  When we got out of the car and were walking into the station we heard someone say, “Neal, Neal Maxfield.”  We turned around and there were some people that Neal knew.  Who would have thought he would meet someone in Beaver!  Amazing, but not surprising.  We then drove on to Prim where we spent a short night before continuing on to Mexico.

We arrived at Judy and Ron’s home and were greeted by these gorgeous flowers blooming in their court yard.  We unpacked and then Ron, Neal and I started a puzzle that we would work on during the week when we weren’t golfing, playing bridge or sun tanning.  The temperatures during the week ranged from the low and high sixties.  Yup, I had a sweatshirt on every single day!  Warm to me is the seventies!

Getting ready for Mexico

I had to run Bella out to Lynda Ann’s.  She is wonderful to tend her every time we go on a trip.  When I got there they had just unloaded all the lumber to start working on Emmi and Abby’s bedrooms.  I went downstairs to see what they were going to do and there found Hayley Anne and Andrew enjoying a very creative ‘superman’ jump!  For some reason they wanted to have the inner tube around their waist and a blanket for their cape!  I love the imagination of children.

And then, of course, I had to come home and watch BYU get hammered by San Diego while packing for our trip.

Celebrating Susan’s Birthday

It has been a long tradition of ours to go to lunch and shopping on our birthdays.  This started so far back I don’t remember when the first time was.  Over the years it has dwindled down to Lila Mae, Susan and me along with Lynda Ann and Mary – if they can come (which isn’t usually often enough.  Today I met Susan and Lila Mae in Provo at ShopKo.  Bought a couple of things and then headed to Mimi’s for lunch.  From there to Seagle Book and then to the Mall.  It was a very fun time.  These are the only pictures I was able to snap and I might add with great protest.  Neither Susan or Lila Mae will have anything to do with having their picture taken.  I was lucky to get these.  All Susan wanted for her birthday was a new dish drainer and mat.  I got that along with a couple of other kitchen sink items and then gave her a gift certificate to go along with it.  Happy Birthday, Susan! I Love you!!

Farm Hill Ward Relief Society Birthday Party

What a fun evening this was.  It is always fun to gather together as ward members to visit, reminisce, enjoy a light dinner and have a program.  I was asked to narrate a part and also to sing in a trio.  I’m still not too old to sing and I’m grateful for that talent for as long as it will last.  What a delightful evening.

Next to me is Sherry, singing alto, Sally, our accompanist and Kathy, singing soprano.  Of course that leave me singing second soprano.  Don’t you just love the pioneer dresses.

Spring weather?

The only way I know to describe the changing of seasons in Utah is to think of a tug-of-war.  Each season not wanting to give into the inevitable change that is coming.  Each tugging hard not to give in.  Winter wanting to hang in as long as possible and Spring beckoning the pansies, tulips and daffodils to make their appearance encouraging us to believe that winter won’t last forever.  These are pictures of our weather today – from the moment I got up at 6:30 a.m. to view a winter wonder land until tonight at 6:30 p.m.

We had over a foot of snow fall during the night.

The temperature had gone back up to the upper 40’s and looking at the trees and the sky  and feeling the warmer air you wouldn’t know we had just experienced a heavy snow fall with cold temperatures.  These two pictures were taken when I got home from work.  Amazing – Mother Nature!

One more picture from our Women’s Conference

This is a picture of Neill and Caroline.  Caroline and Lynda Ann were good friends during their young women years.  I also had the fun experience of going through an Self Improvement program with Caroline.  What a fun adventure that was for both of us. She has been living in Washington D.C. for years and has now moved back to Utah.  It was so happy that she came with her mom and that we had a few moments to reminisce a bit.

Another fun day with Lyndsy

I had another appointment with Lyndsy yesterday to get me ready for our trip to Mexico and sun bathing.  It is wonderful to have an estitition (I have no clue how to spell that) in the family that you can feel comfortable going to.  She knows her job well and has wonderful skills.  We took this picture outside the salon.

A sad day but, a bargain day!

I put on my watch this morning and it fell off my arm. As I looked at it I realized the part that attaches to the watch is completely worn through and will no longer hold the watch together. Yes I was very sad. I had this watch since 1986! I took it to a watch repair place and they said there was no way it could be fixed. :-( That was not what I wanted to hear. They suggested I get on line to Gucci and see if they had anything. I guess that will be my next project. I am such a ‘time’ oriented person that I just have to have a watch with me at all times. I don’t know how many times a day I have to know what time it is.

While I was at the watch store I began looking around for a watch to replace my Gucci watch and noticed that everything and I mean everything in the store is silver. There were about two or three gold band watches. I finally settled on one and when I asked the price she said that it was $126.00, but, they were having a sale and it was 80% off which made it $25 something. I thought that was a good deal. I don’t love the band, but for $25.00 I can learn to like it.

I just had to post this picture that Andrew drew for me and worked on so hard with every detail.

This is a picture of me picking grapes!  I’m on the left side of the picture.  Notice the blue bird and the bumble bee on the right side.  Also, if you look closely you will see the roots of the tree.  Also at the top, he has printed his name and put a period a the end of his name.  This is so you will know it is the end of his name.  (That was his explanation for the period.)  Apparently, in Andrew’s world grapes grow on trees and that is perfectly acceptable to me!  Thank you Andrew, I love the picture and I love you!  Gam
