Back at Scofield

Neal was able to work on his Scout Totums for his Scout training the next weekend.  He also had to make a walking stick.

You can see they are about the size of a poker chip.
This is Neal's walking stick.  He was very proud of it.

While Neal was working on his scout stuff, Ron went out on the deck to read and soak in some sun and Judy and I walked up to the top of the hill to make some calls.
As usual, we had a wonderful time, fabulous food and played lots of bridge.  The weather was perfect.  We found out at Jaden's game that Brock was being ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood on Sunday.  Neal felt like he should go down so he got up early that morning and drove back to Salt Lake for the ordination and then came back up.  He got there just before Ron, Judy and I came home from Sacrament Meeting in Scofield.

A trip to Scofield

Ron and Judy invited us to Scofield over the Labor Day Weekend.  We also found out that Jaden had a game Saturday evening.  Ron and Judy were good enough to drive us over the mountain pass from Scofield and down into Ephram.  It took about an hour and a half.  The football game wasn't much of a game as Snow College won 40 to 0!  Jaden scored a touchdown toward the end of the game which was very exciting.  Fun to watch your grandson play on a junior college team.  We are proud of you Jaden.  It was fun to drive past the coal mine and see the long shoot that runs for miles and carries coal down to be loaded on the train cars.
This picture below shows how long and huge this conveyor belt is.  It is amazing.  I made some comment about it looking like the great wall of China!

This picture shows the huge pile of coal ready to be loaded.
Maren had seats saved for us on the 50 yard line.  Here you can see Jaden in his #13 uniform.
This is Maren, Taylor, Brock and Boston sitting in the wheelchair section, right in front of us.

This was right after the game and all of us listening to Jaden talk about his touchdown and catching the ball.  He was very, very excited, as he should have been.
Brock and Mr. Boston and Taylor also caught up in the story telling and the excitement of the moment.  I love Brock's look of admiration.
Obvious picture of very proud grandparents with the football hero.
It was fun to be there.  Our ride back to Scofield was eventful as we ran into herd after herd of dear grazing on both sides of the road up through the canyon.  One couldn't drive too carefully.  Never seen so many deer.  But we made it back safely.

Neal sings in Sacrament Meeting

The Bishop wanted a special number for Sacrament meeting.  He said that we were having a special guest speaker so I put together a quartet.  They sang Sweet Hour of Prayer and it was beautiful!
Dang!  I wish I knew how to rotate the pictures when they load sideways.  From top to bottom Neal, Chris Olsen, Sheryl Elder, and Brad Richins.

Some fun Cutler pictures

Maren sent me these pictures of Jaden and his football buddies, Mr. Boston and Brock in their first day of school and Taylor with her friends at school and on the drill team.

I love it when my kids send me pictures of themselves or the grandchildren.  These are great pictures.  Thanks Maren.

Christopher Robbin

Annie and the kids invited me out to Stansbury for my birthday to go see the movie, Christopher Robbin.  It was such a funny, cute and great story about Christopher Robbin all grown up.  Diet coke, popcorn and a good movie with the grandchildren.  Can't get much better than that.

Here are a couple quotes from the movie that are ones that make you think:

"When yesterday was tomorrow, it was too much day for me."
"I get to where I'm going by walking away from where I've been."

Thanks Gertsons!!  Loved spending the day and the movie with all of you.

My new china

Neal and I are working on getting a 24 place setting of our new china.  We found someone who was selling her whole set with all the accessories like salt and pepper shakers, gravy boat, tea pot - yes a tea pot or coffee pot - and butter dish, etc.  Who ever packed it did a terrible job and when we opened it, there were many pieces broken.  I was grateful that most of the pieces that didn't make it were the tea cups and saucers.  There were some little fruit bowls that I loved and most of them didn't make it so I will have to get on ebay and amazon and see if I can find some to buy.
The little stems that go on top of the serving bowls.

So excited for my new china to have a place in the china hutch.  Neal did the arranging, of course.  We also are now using the Americana dishes for our every day dishes and have them housed in the kitchen cupboards.  The old dishes are stored carefully away.

We don't have all the pieces yet but hopefully we will eventually be able to buy all the missing pieces.

Tuacahn

Every year Neal and I get season tickets to Tuacahn with Ron and Judy.  This year our shows were Cinderella, Prince of Egypt and Matilda.  All three productions were amazing.  I have to say that my favorite was Cinderella.  The instant costume changes right on stage were almost magic, they happened so fast.  The weather was hot as the Dickens but we so enjoyed the plays in spite of the heat.  We did play golf early one morning and Judy and I did the usual shopping trip and actually had Ron and Neal go back to Dillards with us to look at some shorts.  Neal ended up getting about 10 pair!

We also went for walks along the golf course and saw this beautiful cactus in bloom.
On our way home we saw this little house on the freeway and I just had to take a picture of it.  Just looks like a doll house being towed down the road.
It was a wonderful trip with fun and laughs and delicious food.

Scofield Weekend

Ron and Judy invited Neal and I to the cabin this past weekend to celebrate my birthday.  We had a grand time.  Left on Friday morning and golf on the way.  We did nine holes and then on to the cabin for good food, relaxing, carving, bridge and church.  We came home late Sunday evening.  It was a great birthday celebration with good friends.

Stitching

Haven't accomplished too much on the stitching.  I've been doing quilting instead, but this is how far I am at this point.  This photo was taken August 2nd.  Just finally got around to posting it.

Neal's Tree finally gets trimmed!

Cutting the limbs off this tree in the front room is the hardest thing that Neal has to do every year.  He can hardly stand to cut the limbs, but, again, it was taking over the front room.  I promise, it will grow back and we will be going through this process yet again.  I remember the first time he cut the limbs, Tucker was here.  Too bad you weren't here for the ceremony.

The final product.  So much nicer and so much easier to manage and it isn't taking over the front room and people don't have to dodge the tree!

After the trimming!

More birthday presents

Lynda Ann, Abby and Andrew came by the office on their way to Lagoon - well it certainly wasn't on their way, it was way out of the way - and brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers.  Abby gave me my favorite cookies and a darling set of salt and pepper shakers.

I loved the PS at the end of my card.  Annie is an awesome mom!

Today I got a package in the mail and it was from Tucker and Jamie and the girls.  It was one of those fun boxes from Amazon full of all of the stuff that I love.  It's like Christmas when I get one of those fun boxes.  It's like the gift that keeps on giving.  I just keep pulling things out of the box.  So much fun!

Thanks for remembering and making my birthday awesome!
