Saturday events

Neal fixed breakfast for everyone.  We had hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon, tang and milk.  There was nothing left over.  Everyone was starving and ready to be filled.  After breakfast, a small group of us decided to go on an easy hike.

Here is a picture of "happy Andrew".  Needless to say, he did not want to go on the hike but was told he had to.  Not sure he enjoyed any part of it.
Annie's shirt has the compass on it so Tucker got out his compass and turned Annie so that her shirt was exactly due North with the compass.
Me taking a picture of Tucker taking a selfie that I had to run and get in.
After the hike we played a couple table games.  One was a hands game that Tucker taught us and the other was spoons.  Fun times with all the kids.
Lunch was prepared and served by Maren and Greg.  Delicious sandwiches and cookies.  It was a perfect way to end a perfect trip.  After lunch we began cleaning up and packing, ready to call our trip over.  I think everyone had a great time and it will be fun to do it again.
This is a picture of our group (Greg is taking the picture) along with our camp supervisors.  They are from Midway and new Lila Mae and they remember me when I used to come up every summer and stay with Lila Mae.  Elder and Sister Parks.  Her name was Dixie.  She told me that she knew immediately who I was by my eyes.  They reminded her of Lila Mae.  I got that exact same comment from one of Susan's co-workers last week.
Beautiful Heber Valley coming down from the camp sight.  Thanks to all the family who made this such a fun weekend.  We love you all!

Evening events

Annie had marshmallows for the kids to roast and made brownies in the Dutch Oven.  They were delicious.

As the fire died down the kids wanted to play some games so we went in the bunk house and played "What Were You Thinking".  A family favorite!
Finally off to bed at 1:00 a.m.  We had thought about going on an early morning sunrise hike but we all vetoed that and decided sleeping in was a better idea.  This is a picture of the bunk house.  They sleep 16 people.

Pictures from the ropes course

Our first course was our teens, tweens and youngest ones figuring out how to get from one stump to another without stepping onto the ground.  It was difficult at first but the finally realized that if the worked together and helped each other that they could get everyone across even down to the youngest.  It was a good experience.

Cute picture of Maren and Greg.
Next we did the life line but there weren't any pictures because we were all blind folded and couldn't talk.  Everyone had a different experience and gained something different as they went through it.  This one is one of my favorite things to do in a ropes course.  From there we went to the high wire event.  This one always freaks me out!

I don't remember what order we went in or who was first or last.  I just know it took me a while to decide I was going to actually do it.  You climbed the dangling pole which is about 30' high and then across a high wire and then down a zip line.  It was hard to get really good picture with my phone but I did the best I could.  I think this is Lynda Ann going up the pole. If you look the the left of the picture you will see the wire that you have to cross.

Look closely and you will see the Annie on the zip line.
This was Andrew working his way across.  He actually did it twice.
Emmi girl on her way up the pole.
This is little old me working my way up the pole with my heart beating just about out of my chest!
Not sure who had my phone and took this picture but it gives you an idea how high up you are.
Me frantically going across the wire and anxious to get the the platform on the other side.  Where you are hooked up to the zip line.

Coming back from the zip line and happy to have both feet on the ground.
Even our youngest were able to make it up the pole and across the wire and down the zip line.  Boston and Brock even made their way up and across.  Boston could barely reach the handles on the pole and wire above him but he made it.  River gave it a shot but only got about 1/4 the way up the pole and panicked and had to be brought down.  Mallory and Abby had done it before and decided not to do it this time.

Evening Meal at the camp sight and the ropes course

We had just enough time to get all the cars unloaded and everything either in the cabins or in the kitchen area and it was time to get dinner going so that we could be at the ropes course by 6:00 p.m.
For dinner we had tin foil dinners.  They were absolutely delicious.  Annie and par boiled the carrots and the potatoes and thought of the brilliant idea of doing the dinners in individual tinfoil pie dishes.  They worked out perfectly and were much more sturdy sitting on the coals.

This one was Tuckers.  Dad kind of mutilated it getting it out of the coals.  But, thanks to the pie tin it kept the food in and the ashes out and didn't tear.  We all laughed at how funny it looked squished.  Tucker also was eating it and the handle of his plastic spoon broke twice so he basically just had the spoon part left.

We had to hustle up to the ropes course right after dinner.  We just barely made it on time.  There are lots of pictures from the ropes course so I'm going to do the course on the next page.

Family Camping Trip

We got a camp sight at the girls camp above Heber City, Utah.  We could only get it for one night because it is used every week all week long by all the stakes in the church for their girls camps.  During the summer you can only book Friday night and Saturday.  You check in at 2:00 on Friday and check out by 5:00 on Saturday.  No one is allowed to stay over Sunday.
Thus began our family adventure.  Packing up and getting ready to depart.  We were all meeting at WalMart at the mouth of Parleys.  Annie was picking up Tucker on her way in (Tucker flew in for a convention in Park City the next week) and Neal and I stopped by to pick up River.  This is some of the stuff Neal and I were loading.  By the time we got through, the Jeep was loaded!

This was at the meeting place in the parking lot at WalMart.  All the cars are loaded!
Here we are pulling out of the parking lot and beginning our journey to Heber.  I laughed because Lynda Ann was driving their new Suburban, Maren is driving their SUV and I'm behind Maren driving the Jeep.  All girl drivers!
Here we have arrived, and our setting up camp along with a little horse play and orientation from our camp advisers.
This picture has a story.  Annie bought some fancy tie down and couldn't figure out how to make them work.  I heard Greg say something about the fact that the straps were in backwards or something like that.  They were going to get together and figure out how to make them work properly.  Apparently there was a lot of stress with the straps in preparing for the trip.
Emmi was all about taking a picture with Tucker with her BYU shirt on!
We all gathered on the bleachers for our camp orientation.  Basically the dos and don'ts at the camp and what was available for us to do and where those activities were located.  The bunk house behind the group was Bunkhouse C which was the Cutler's chosen place to sleep because as Maren said, "We are the noisiest and need to be the farthest away.  If you dare, you can ask Pa about where we can use the Dutch Ovens!!!!
Annie and Maren getting directions on where the hikes were, the ropes course and the lake.
Neal getting the wood ready to start the fire.
Just a moment with cute Mr. Boston.
